Popular Resolution
By Carol Heath
Arguably the most popular resolution many people make is ‘weight loss’. Some of us choose diets, while others choose to start going to that gym they joined last January. It has taken me some 50 years or so to realize diets don’t really work. Depriving yourself of your favorite foods, that succulent juicy pastry, those mile-high mashed potatoes with a cube of butter and lots of salt, that quart of Ben and Jerry’s Cookie Dough that tastes so good as your midnight snack, I could go on, but why. Diets simply don’t work! Consider this, I’m sure you’ve heard this one before, but remember the first 3 letters in diet are D I E.
The accepted medical advice is a well-balanced diet incorporating all of the 5 food groups. Or, according to some people 4 to 11 food groups. Most of us recognize the aforementioned 5 food groups which include: fruits, vegetable, dairy, meat and grain. It is also advised to eat 5 to 6 times a day to keep your blood sugar up; that doesn’t mean 6 Big Macs or 5 small pizzas, so stop salivating. It means like 2 big meals and then little snacks, again a snack is a small apple, or maybe 10 almonds, not a bag of chips.
Along with that well-balanced diet it is suggested that you also exercise 3 – 4 days a week. You don’t need to run a 4-minute mile, just get the heart rate up. If you are anything like over 50% of the population, you will most likely see that every major retailer having sales on home exercise equipment. Many will buy a piece of home gym equipment and use it diligently for a couple of weeks, maybe a month, then it most likely will end up in the garage, under the bed, in the extra room, just some place we don’t have to look at it.
That brings us to the real reason for this post. Remember that gym membership we mentioned, well as we stated in our website, we want to make sure we keep you all abreast of the latest news that is relevant, especially to woman. This will be interesting and maybe informative for men as well, so feel free to share.
You chose to buy that really bright and decorative workout outfit in lieu of that piece of gym equipment so you can make good use of that gym membership. You walk in a bit tentative and look around. Okay, you are not the only one packing a few extra pounds. You hope the decorative pattern on your yoga pants detracts from those bulges here and there and everywhere.
Okay ladies, here it comes. Beginning February 5, 2018, Hanson Fitness, located in New York will offer naked male, female, and coed workout sessions. Now this is not just some small unknown gym, no ma’am, they boast clients that include Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, and Rhianna just to name a few.
“Working out without clothes provides a number of benefits to your exercise including skin breathing, the release of endorphins due to Vitamin D from sunlight and complete body awareness so you can see if you’re cheating on your exercise routines.”
Those inspiring words were uttered by Harry Hanson, founder of Hanson Fitness. Sounds convincing except for this place better have lots of windows as the temperature in New York today is 20 degrees, however it is sunny so that vitamin D is coming through.
Now I don’t claim to have had the experience, nor am I an expert, however I have heard that cold weather does cause certain things to come to attention, while other things tend to shelve up and hide. Just sayin’.
